In the world of haute perfumery, your fragrance is more than just a scent; it is an invisible signature that announces your arrival and lingers in your wake. But what if you want a scent that is entirely, uniquely yours? A fragrance that no one else in the room is wearing?
Welcome to the art of scent layering.
Layering—or "fragrance cocktailing"—is the artisanal practice of combining two or more perfumes to create a bespoke olfactive experience. At Rngat by Hardik, our masterfully blended fragrances are designed to be beautiful on their own, but they also possess the perfect balance to be layered together.
Here is how you can become your own perfumer and create a custom scent profile that is as unique as you are.
1. The Golden Rule: Heavy to Light
The secret to successful layering lies in the order of application. Always apply your heavier, richer fragrances first, and follow them with your lighter, fresher scents.
If you apply a light, citrusy fragrance first and top it with a heavy, woody oil, the lighter scent will be completely drowned out. By laying down the heavier notes as a base, you create a rich foundation that allows the lighter top notes to dance and project.
2. A Match Made in Heaven: Layering Amber & Aagaaz
To truly understand the magic of layering, look no further than our own collection.
Step One: The Foundation. Begin with Amber (5ml). Apply a subtle dab to your pulse points (the inner wrists and the base of the neck). Amber is deeply resinous, warm, and slightly sweet. It acts as an anchor, melting into your skin and providing a luxurious, sensual baseline.
Step Two: The Elevation. Give the Amber a minute to settle, then lightly mist Aagaaz (30ml) over the same areas. Aagaaz introduces a burst of vibrant energy and sophisticated freshness.
